Stages Power & Athlete Success

Auber 93 Tour de France Femmes

Many things have defined Stages Cycling over the past decade. Innovation, hard work, passion, and dedication to name a few, but nothing has shaped our company more than the cyclists who use and represent our products. The voices of countless athletes have contributed to our success and we are honored that Stages Power has helped millions of athletes and cyclists worldwide accomplish their goals.

We set out over ten years ago to make a power meter for every rider, from professional to recreational, indoor to outdoor, and every category in between. The wide range of athletes and teams we have been proud to work with has established a high standard of performance, reliability, and ease of use that extends to all of our products. It’s a standard we’ve lived up to for the past ten years, and it’s a merit we look forward to building upon in the future.

What Have Stages Athletes Accomplished?

Stages launched its first power meter for outdoor bikes on July 12, 2012. Since then, Stages Cycling has produced millions of power meters and has grown from a small company to a global leader in the cycling technology industry. Stages Power meters, Stages GPS Cycling Computers, and the Stages SB20 Smart Bike have helped countless athletes train and compete in the world’s most prestigious and competitive races. Stages athletes have amassed: eight grand tour wins, twenty-four world championships, seventy-two national titles, multiple Olympic medals, and much more.

Who are Stages Athletes?

Stages Cycling has partnered with the world’s top cycling professionals and is proud to have sponsored 567 professional athletes across all cycling categories. We are inspired by our athletes and believe that the beauty of any sport, including cycling, lies in how it fuels and changes lives. Here are several examples of how Stages Athletes & Teams are making a difference.

St. Michel-Auber 93

Stages is proud to sponsor the St. Michel-Auber 93 women’s team in the inaugural Tour de France Femmes later this month. The race will make history as the La Course one-day women’s race is (finally) replaced by an eight-day stage race. The 2022 Tour de France will start in Paris on the Champs-Elysees on Sunday, July 24, and will roll out after the men roll in. Twenty-four teams will ride 1,029 kilometers throughout the eight stages and will wrap up with a summit finish atop the Super Planche des Belles Filles.

Sam Holness

“Anything is Possible.”  That’s the tagline that captures the essence of IRONMAN Triathlons, and it’s the bold statement that Stages athlete Sam Holness lives out every day. Sam was diagnosed with autism at the age of four and was nonverbal until age six. This summer, at age twenty-nine, Sam made history as the first openly autistic athlete to compete at the Mainova IRONMAN Frankfurt European Championships. And he’ll do it again at the Supersapiens IRONMAN World Championship in Kona, Hawaii, later this fall.

St. Augustine's University Cycling Team

In May 2020, St. Augustine's University became the first Historically Black College or University (HBCU) in the United States to formally establish a competitive cycling program. Stages Cycling is a proud sponsor of the North Carolina-based team and will be cheering the Falcons on as they compete in the USA Cycling’s Atlantic division.

Boris Stein

At age twenty-four, Boris Stein earned a medal in the first triathlon he ever competed in. Ten years later, Stein is still winning races and pulling off impressive performances, including recording the fastest bike split at the 2017 IRONMAN Hawaii and an unofficial bike record in the 2019 race. Last year, he finished second at IRONMAN Lanzarote, and in 2019 the German won IRONMAN Sweden. You would think that as one of the winningest professional triathletes in the sport, Boris would spend all of his time training and racing. But Boris somehow balances fatherhood and a career in teaching to make a profound impact in his community.

You!

Over the past ten years, Stages has worked with elite and professional athletes of all disciplines, but we are most proud of helping athletes of all levels regardless of their goals or podium finishes. “A power meter for every rider” will always be the principal reason we exist, and the stories of junior, local teams, and everyday avid cyclists will always be why we matter.

We love hearing about your memorable moments with Stages Power. So, in honor of our tenth anniversary, we created a collection of “power stories” on Instagram under the hashtag #powerisknowledge. Check it out if you’re looking for some inspiration!

We want you to know all of our athletes
