Back in the 90’s Yeti fielded one of the first professional mountain bike race teams. Throughout the team’s history it has supported nearly every generation of the sport’s icons, from Furtado and Tomac, to Gwin, and of course, the current EWS Champion. With over 25 years of racing experience, Yeti is expert in making racers go faster. Now focusing entirely on the up-and-coming sport of enduro, the Yeti Factory Racing team is set on conquering the Enduro World Series.

YETI RIDER SHAWN NEER ON POWER:
The biggest thing for me when I started using Stages Power was being able to recover correctly. I could monitor when I started to fatigue and was able to make sure that my recovery rides were at the right power. It is really easy to push too hard on what should be a recovery day, having the data right in front of you keeps you from doing so.

Shawn Neer raced downhill for the majority of his career and tried Enduro for the first time in 2016. He really enjoyed the format. It was the perfect change for his style of riding. After racing his first full year of Enduro in 2017 he was hooked. This year he’ll be doing the complete EWS series, and he is stoked.

 

NEER’S FAVORITE WORKOUT: 15 minute warm up, 15s on – 30s off until the legs give up or I want to puke 15 minute spin out.

Duncan Nason started racing when he was approximately 10 years old. He raced Downhill and slowly started to transition to enduro racing when he was old enough to compete. He raced the Oregon Enduro Series and won the series in the U21 category,  then set out to try and win the BME series and signed for Yeti in, racing his first year as a PRO at national events. He placed 3 overall in the Big Mountain Enduro series and won the last round in Crested Butte. He also landed in 2nd at the Aspen EWS in U21.

HOW DUNCAN TRAINS WITH POWER: Power let’s me finally ride road bikes at consistent pace. Then also knowing my max output on the mountain bike and trying to match that and see how long I can hold a certain amount of power is very helpful.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE THE MOST ABOUT TRAINING: Suffering.

Richie Rude’s career started as a kid going to Downhill races almost every weekend with his father. Fast forward and next thing he knew he was signing with Yeti in 2011 for Downhill, raced full time and shortly after won the Junior World Championships in 2013.

He then joined Jared Graves to race Enduro and went on to win the overall EWS in 2015, 2016. Even with all the success, most of all he continues to enjoy every aspect of riding, from going out for a road ride to riding the chair lift.

RICHIE’S FAVORITE POWER WORKOUT:A simple one that i like is 40/20s. Short and sweet. 40s on a decent power and then 20s rest. having power really makes me keep that consistent effort throughout the workout

LEAST FAVORITE THING ABOUT TRAINING:  Feeling tired and beat… when you go for a ride and I don’t feel into it, the feeling like you would have been better off staying home

WHAT’S ON RICHIE RUDE’S DASH: Time(of ride), 3s power/10s power, distance, time of day, speed

BEST THING ABOUT STAGES: I think it is a great system to record power on any bike you want. Having it on the left crank makes it easy to swap between bikes or change out the battery and keep on going!

ON TRAINING WITH STAGES:
It is a great gauge for the effort level that you’re at. Heart rate can always differ due to your fatigue levels, while with power it will only be harder or easier to get to that number whether you\re fresh or cooked. So i guess for me its great to gauge my output to pace for during a workout. Or to look at it in comparison with HR to see how i am doing.
