Rocky Mountain Race Face Enduro

DISCIPLINE: Enduro (and a bit of XC)


The Rocky Mountain/Race Face Enduro Team is an all Canadian EWS racing squad. The three main athletes on the team, Remi Gauvin, Andreane Lanthier Nadeau (ALN), and Jesse Melamed have raced together over three seasons and stepped on a number of podiums as individuals and as a team.

Growing up riding with this generations fastest Canadian downhillers riders on Mt. Prevost, Vancouver Island, Remi brings great speed from his downhill racing experience to Rocky Mountain Raceface Enduro. With a Junior National Championship, Canada Cup wins, a 3rd place at 2014 Crankworx Garbo DH and a 36th at the 2014 World Championships Remi’s seen success on a downhill bike. Over the past two seasons Remi has translated that downhill speed into becoming a Top 10 overall EWS racer, with a top 5 pacing toping his 2017 season!

Being able to relate effort levels with a real number value is something that a really value now that I have been training with power for a while now. Knowing that in your training that you are able to hold certain efforts for certain lengths of time is great knowledge doing into a race.

Andréane, or ALN as we know her, has put her time in on the Cross-Country circuit as a junior, U23, and elite, but the love of trail riding and an obvious talent for riding technical terrain and carrying speed brought her curiosity to enduro. After racing the XC World Cup in Mont-Ste-Anne in 2015 she followed her intuition and skipped Windham in order to race at the Whistler Crankworx EWS. Strong results and endless amounts of good times have seen her commit to Enduro since then. She’s stood on the EWS podium twice, and had some outstanding races showing her aggressive and smooth riding style.


I believe power is a great insight into an athlete’s weaker spots and when combined with HR, a great variable allowing you to analyze fatigue when under a high training load.

15 minute warm up.
3 x 1 minute builds to 80%,
with 1 minute rest.

Set 1:
3 x 3 minutes building to max effort.
Recovery is 3 minutes.
5 minutes easy.

Set 2:
6 x 30s all out.
1.5 minutes recovery.
5 minutes easy.

Whistler-local Jesse ‘Jmel’ or ‘Marmalade’ Melamed has been in the spotlight for years, despite his young age, as a local racer taking on one of the most gruelling enduro races in the world, the SRAM Canadian Open Enduro presented by Specialized at Crankworx Whistler. In true Whistler fashion, he started riding and racing at three-years-old. In his first race against the big pros he didn’t have any international race experience (nor a dropper post) and ended up 8th in Pro Men. It turned a few heads. That momentum kicked off the year and has only picked up since, culminating in his epic second place finish at CrankWorx in 2016.
