DISCIPLINE: Mountain Bike XC
HOMEBASE: Boulder, Colorado
Since entering her first elite race in 2007, Erin has risen through the ranks of professional crosscountry mountain bike racers to become a consistent top finisher at national and international events.
In 2012, after demonstrating success on the domestic race scene, she was selected to the US World Championship team. This was a turning point in her cycling career where Erin decided to expand her focus from mostly regional racing and prioritize more National and International events.
This focus paid off as Erin has made significant gains within the North American race scene to become a top US racer; a 2016 Olympic Long List team member, 3x National Champion, and a regular podium threat.
Erin Huck Rides
YEARS ON STAGES: 4
WHAT’S ON ERIN’S DASH:
Ride time, heart rate, RPM, time of day, 3sec Power.
BEST THING ABOUT STAGES:
Stages allowed me to train with power on my mountain bike….which has been HUGE. I can race with it and train with it enabling me to simulate race efforts in training.
Erin was one of the first athletes to start training with the new StagesBike SB20 smart bike.
“Over the years, riding inside has looked like different things. You’ve had trainers, rollers, various combinations of the two. You have to bring potentially a dirty bike inside, the rolling resistance is never consistent. So the Stages indoor bike gets rid of all of those things. With being quiet, no setup, it just makes it a lot easier to get the work that I need done in the time that I have.”
FAVORITE STAGES MOMENT:
As I always say-the power numbers don’t lie. Having consistent feedback on my efforts allows me to measure progress, hit specific training targets, and helps to determine if something is a bit off…like if I need more rest, or if I’m not performing at my best.
2020 VIDEO SERIES:
WHAT’S IN YOUR HEAD WHILE RIDING:
I don’t listen to music while riding, especially not while riding hard. I like to focus on the sensations and make sure I am present.
BEST THING ABOUT TRAINING:
That feeling of accomplishment after I’ve put in a hard, solid effort…and I’m totally worked!
MOST EFFECTIVE OFF-SEASON WORKOUT:
I love going for long runs and hikes-still a good aerobic workout, gives the legs something to recover from, and I can go with my dog which makes me happy!
