Born and raised in Bermuda, Flora Duffy entered her first triathlon at the age of seven. Thirteen years later she found herself on the starting line of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, racing for Bermuda. Now Duffy can call three places home: Bermuda, Boulder, Colorado and Stellenbosch, South Africa. She moved to Boulder, CO in 2010 to enroll in school, where she began racing on the road, and entering many triathlon World Cups and World Championship events around the globe as she could. In 2014 she found her way to the sport of Xterra, racing a full season, ultimately winning the World Championships in Maui, HI. Duffy now has her sights set on the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
YEARS ON STAGES: 3
FAVORITE POWER WORKOUTS: My favorite workout I like to do with power is a specific VO2 and threshold set. The workout is 90 seconds at VO2 watts straight into 3 minutes threshold, 3 minutes rest and repeat 6 times. Using Stages is so critical for this workout. My coach Neal will set me specific watts to ride for the VO2 and threshold parts of the workout. I really love having a power meter for this workout because I know I am doing the exact effort I should be, getting the most out of the workout.
WHAT’S ON FLORA’S SCREEN: Time, distance, power, heart rate, speed.
FAVORITE STAGES MOMENT: I love, love, love being able to see my power while in a race. It really helps me stay focused if I can see my watts and concentrate on riding at certain watts.EXPLORE XTR M980

FAVORITE THING TO DO WHEN THE RACING IS DONE: Traveling and eating! I love food. The best off season activity is visiting a new city and checking out all the foodie, coffee, and wine spots. My running shoes will usually come with me too- because I love exploring new places while running.
ARE YOU A WATTS GEEK? I am not but my coach- Neal Henderson is! Through working with him, I have a new appreciation for watts and understanding the numbers I should be riding and when.
GREATEST ACCOMPLISHMENT TO DATE: I think it is being a two time Olympian (2008 and 2012) and winning the Xterra World Championships in 2014.
LEAST FAVORITE THING ABOUT BEING AMAZING AT THREE SPORTS: 5AM Monday morning swim workouts.
FAVORITE THING ABOUT TRAINING: Being able to escape, exploring new roads, and seeing the outdoors from a different perspective. Also- I do enjoy seeing how much pain I can put my body through.
ONE THING NOBODY KNOWS: I play the violin!
