I hardly used power before getting a Stages so really it changed everything for me. I went from doing things by feel… to doing things by the numbers… but then realizing that I ultimately learned my own body and capacity better by seeing the numbers and that led me to understand how to balance the two and build on my own strength.
FAVOURITE POWER WORK-OUT
It is a series of five 5min intervals with at least 5min rest in between. I usually do them on a hill. Start with average HR 8-10 bpm below an intense 1hr race average. Peak HR and average HR should go up 1-2 beats each interval. If you can’t put out your best numbers of the work out in the last 2min you have done it wrong, you need to measure yourself and know your effort and numbers, make sure to go hard enough through out but still have something left for the kick at the end!
