STAGES ATHLETE: HELEN JENKINS

Helen Jenkins has achieved more ITU World Triathlon Series podium finishes than any other British woman and has won the ITU world title. She secured the 2016 Olympic selection with a dramatic win.

DISCIPLINE: Triathlon

BASE: Bridgend, UK

BIKE

Helen Jenkins rides the Ultegra LR Power and Dash.

FAVOURITE FEATURE: It’s reliable and easy to use. I live having my average watts on display for harder rides. When I am riding easy I don’t always look at power, recording the time of ride or distance is more important on the easy days.

HOW STAGES SUPPORTS TRAINING GOALS: Stages links to my coaches training peaks account. It’s such useful data and I know if my levels are improving and getting closer to where they need to be. The SB20 is great for programmed sessions and a great indoor tool. I love how specific we can get in training sessions when you have power data to use. The specificity helps me to improve.

PROFILE

How did you discover Triathlon?
I started triathlon at about 15, I was lucky to find it. Originally I was a swimmer and a friend’s dad who swam in the club introduced me to it, he was the Welsh Coach at the time. I didn’t think I’d make the Olympic as a swimmer but I loved training and was also already running..
